The start of 2008 saw us take on another surf store situated at Cayton Bay just 2 miles down the coast from Scarborough. Cayton Bay is a fantastic surfing location and the natural choice for the base of the Schools lessons. Well regarded in the UK as one of the best surf spots, Cayton Bay boasts not only awesome surf but offers our customers more facilities than any other surf school on the east coast, including Hot Showers, Changing Facilities, Hot Drinks and Food, Car Parking and a fully stocked Surf Test Centre where you can try out the best boards, suits and fins from Surftech, FCS, NSP and Rip Curl just to mention a few... We also have a Surf Hire Centre from the good guys at TIKI where you can try out many of the boards on offer and if you buy any of the boards your hire charges are refunded.On hand is our resident surf midget Little James, what he does'nt know about surfing isn't worth knowing and he will happily talk surf for hours just to sell you some wax.

0ne star [complete beginners]

This is a complete introduction to surfing, We teach you everything you need to know to get you on your way.Once we've got you kitted out with boards and suits we head to the beach , Our lesson is broken down into an ABC system like this...

A) Intro ductions, Beach safety talk[signals we use,hazards to look out for], thorough warm up[this is Yorkshire remember], demonstration of what different parts of the board are called and their uses,how to enter and exit the surf safely.
B) Demonstration of how to catch a wave in the prone position[lying down] this will give you an idea of the timing and judgement involved. Explanation of the trim position which will help with your balance. How to paddle a board correctly.
C) How to pop to your feet! This is made a lot easier by the boards we use as they are extremely buoyant. First we try on land then in the water.This is where we get to put everything we've learnt altogether.

Two star [improvers]

This lesson is aimed at people that have managed to get to their feet and are looking to take the next step into unbroken waves.

. How to make the drop on a green wave
. How to perform an angled take off
. How to trim along the wave and kick out.

Three star [advanced]

The aim of this lesson is to teach the surfer how to put together manoeuvres. Now that they have learnt the basics we will move on to the core moves of all surfing, these are:

. How to perform a bottom turn, both left and right.
. How to demonstrate a cutback off the whitewater.
. How to perform a re-entry.
. How to keep youself in the critical part of the wave.
*For this lesson the surfer can use their own equipment*

Four star [experienced/competitive]

This is a program that is specifically aimed at the competitive surfer who is in need of different perspective on their surfing. We take into account style, fluidity and offer tips on how to imrove in various areas. Video analysis is also available. Price is negotiable depending on requirements.
